No lies radio intervew with Viomak

1.HELLO VIOMAK HOW ARE YOU DOING? GOOD ALRIGHT NOW I KNOW THAT YOU ARE FROM ZIMBABWE, AFRICA FORMALLY KNOW ASRHODERIA & THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR PROTEST MUSICIANS IN ZIMBABWE ALTHOUGH YOU NOW LIVE IN BRITAIN WHERE YOU SUCCESSFULLY CLAIMED POLITICAL ASYLUM.  TELL US WHAT IT WAS LIKE GROWING UP IN RHODESIA & ABOUT THE CHANGE THAT TOOK PLACE IN ZIMBABWE UNDER THE PRESENT DICTATORSHIP OF MUGABE.

1. I miss Rhodesia and I wish Zimbabwe had not come. Zimbabwe should just go back to white majority rule .All I wish for is good living for every Zimbabwean . Life in Rhodesia was very normal. Commodities were available. There was rule of law and business was booming and thriving. Rhodesia was even classified as the bread basket of southern Africa. Growing up in Rhodesia is one of the best things I have experienced .I have no complaints. Mugabe has destroyed Zimbabwe due to misgovernance, selfishness and ignorance. Zimbabwe is now in its final stages of dying. The situation is very hopeless. Almost everything is not functioning properly. Education is out of reach for almost everyone and its now of poor standard. Now there are electricity and water problems. There’s no rule of law. Mugabe and his men rule the country as of it’s their personal property. Zanupf leaders are getting away with murder. They are extremely corrupt, incompetent  and hard hearted.

2. YOU HOLD A GENERAL B.A. DEGREE, A GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION & A DIPLOMA IN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION ALL FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ZIMBABWE, A MASTERS OF EDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY FROM CANADA & HOPING TO DEFEND YOUR DOCTORATE THESIS IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY.  IN 1997 AFTER HAVING WORKED AS A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER, COLLEGE LECTURER & SENIOR EDITOR FOR THE LITERATURE BUREAU IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE YOU THEN ESTABLISHED VIOMAK EDUCATIONAL SERVICES.  TELL US MORE ABOUT VIOMAK EDUCATIONAL SERVICES.

2. Viomak Educational Services is committed to Zimbabweans  educational needs. The curriculum being followed in Zimbbawe is generally not in touch with reality. What we need is an education system that produces skilled graduates and not theoretical graduates who are out of touch with the modern world. As mentioned earlier on Education in Zimbabwe is now of poor standard so Viomak educational services helps Zimbabweans  secure University places outside the country, with the hope that they will return home to work for their country.

3. AROUND 2005/2006 YOU ESTABLISHED VIOMAK CHARITY MUSIC.  WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A MUSICAL POLITICAL ACTIVIST?

3. God inspired me,and made me to realize that there was need to do something about the  deteriorating political situation in Zimbabwe ,compelling me to establish  a charity music organization and become a political activist. I see Viomak charity music as a double edged tool that speaks on behalf of others  through music , and assist those in need whenever it becomes possible . Zimbabweans are suffering and there’s need for more help .50 % of the proceeds  from music sales goes to charity. We are in a very desperate and sad situation and every Zimbabwean has a responsibility to do something.

 4. YOU NOW HAVE 4 SONGS PLAYING ON NO LIES RADIO & THE 1ST ONE IS IN ENGLISH & IS:  "A MAN IN ZIMBABWE". TELL US THE STORY BEHIND YOUR WRITING OF "A MAN IN ZIMBABWE".

4. The story line of this song originates from a biblical story of a man who asked God how a man can ne born again. On a similar note I wrote it to ask God how a man can be so evil. Mugabe is extremely evil and day and night I wonder if he has the heart of a person. In the same song I also ask God how a woman  , Grace ,Mugabe’s wife can be so evil .I don’t understand why the two of them are so hard hearted .It’s very weird that two extremely bad people are husband and wife. I’m sure God has an answer. Thats why I wrote that song. I’m   searching for an answers.

5. THE REMAINING 3 SONGS ARE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE.  LET US KNOW THE NAME OF YOUR LANGUAGE.

5.Its Shona, specifically Manyika, a Shona dialect for people who come from Manicaland where I come from.

6. YOUR NEXT SONG IS:  "ZIMBABWE IRIPI?" OR "WHERE IS ZIMBABWE?"  TELL US THE STORY BEHIND THIS SONG.

6. It’s sort of complicated. So many themes in one song. From complaints to questions, narrations to explanations. It’s loaded .I had so much to say in a few minutes.Generally, the idea is that some   other countries in this world are growing economically etc but Zimbabwe is nowhere to be found. It has the highest inflation ever heard in this world. It is now one of the worst places to be. Maybe even worse than hell .We are actually wondering in Diaspora yet we have a country that we should call our own. So the song moans the death of Zimbabwe, whilst narrating the suffering of Zimbabweans under Mugabe. It looks like God has forgotten about Zimbabwe so I also ask Him if Zimbabwe still exists to him cause it looks like he has forgotten about us too. So its like Zimbabwe is nowhere to be found on the world map and also in heaven. Maybe Satan knows where it is.

7. YOUR NEXT SONG IS:  "GARAI MAKAGADZIRIRA" OR "BE PREPARED".  TELL US WHAT INSPIREDYOU TO WRITE "BE PREPARED".

7. I realized long back that in our situation God has the final say,so Zimbabweans should be prepared for the day when Mugabe gets out of their lives. Instead of wasting time rallying behind unfocused and incompetent opposition leaders they should actually  start preparing now for the time ahead.  In the song I also remind Mugabe and his men that  God’s time will come.

8. THE LAST SONG OF YOURS NOW PLAYING ON NO LIES RADIO IS:  " KUTONGA KWAMATIBILI" OR MATIBILI'S LEADERSHIP.  TELL YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND WRITING THIS SONG & WHO IS MATIBILI?

8.I was  in a very bad mood when I wrote the lyrics. I wrote it so as to keep a record of Maitibili’s leadership. Matibili is Mugabe’s ancestral name. There are media reports that Mugabe is  a Malawian whose father was called Matibili. I chose Matibili to remind listeners that Mugabe is not Zimbabwean and to get them to think. Maybe that explains why he’s so wicked to us. The chances of him being a Malawian are very high. This song summarises Matibili’s rule. How he tortures ,beats and kills his own people, his corrupt government, and how they believe in witchcraft and abuse traditional medicine so as to remain in power.

9. IN 2007 YOU SET UP THE SERVANTS OF TRUTH BAND IN BRITAIN COMPRISING OF ZIMBABWE MUSICIANS.  TELL US ABOUT THE BAND.

9. Yes I do have some band members I  work with for public performances. They are all seasoned musicians and I am  hoping to stage a great show with them  on the 14th September at the Birmingham arts festival.

10. YOU PLAN ON RETURNING TO ZIMBABWE TO SET UP VIOMAK ACADEMIC COLLEGE & VIOMAK HELP CENTER. I WOULD IMAGINE THIS IS WHAT YOU ENVISION FOR THE FUTURE. IS IT EVEN SAFE FOR YOU TO TRAVEL TO ZIMBABWE RIGHT NOW?

10. Sure, sometime in future I will definitely go back, but I don’t think I will be returning to Zimbabwe in the near future ,but God willingly I will return whenever it’s necessary. The thing is the country is in tatters and the only way I will be able to help others is by  remaining here until further notice.  Now it is not safe for me to travel there unless I sneak in like what I did sometime back. And again this refugee  status  doesn’t allow me to travel to Zimbabwe, but it all depends whenever I feel like going  home I will  sneak in. As long as I’m not caught  it’s safe for me.

A REAL PLEASURE TALKING TO YOU, KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK, BE CAREFUL & THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW.
